New Berlin’s Literacy
Week-----May 7-11, 2012
Our ENTIRE school will
celebrate our love of reading next week!
Don’t forget to wear
your favorite BOOK character costume on WEDNESDAY!
Monday 5/7- Each student will decorate a mini poster (in class)
with the cover of their favorite book!
We will display these covers ALL OVER the school!
Tuesday 5/8 (Boosterthon Pep
Rally)- REUSE and RECYCLE!!! -A book you’re tired of reading can be someone
else’s treasure! Bring in a gently used
book that you would be willing to swap! Each
class will hold a gently used book swap within their own classrooms. Books will NOT be given back. If you bring a book, you will get a
book. This is a great way to change up your book collection!!
Wednesday 5/9 (NO Early Release)-Book
Character Parade: Dress up as
your favorite storybook character! Please ensure that your costume is SAFE and
is indeed a storybook character. Each child will carry the book that their
character is from and take part in the school parade. Please bring a change of clothes if your
storybook costume is too uncomfortable to wear for the remainder of the day
Thursday 5/10- Celebrity TEACHER Readers
Friday-5/11 Mrs. Reese & Mrs. Polydore will work in
the elephant barn at the zoo with the top reading classes from primary and
intermediate AND the top reader from each grade level. The BIG EVENT ;-)
will be recorded and shown on the news in the afternoon!!
Each
grade level will focus on a different book each day on the
morning
announcements. Ask your child what the
special book was when they get home!
