GUIDANCE CORNER NEWSLETTER

1.) Get Crafty When their holiday break begins, get your kids in the holiday spirit by helping you decorate with crafts made together. Purchase plain stockings and craft supplies such as glitter, embellishments, and markers. Allow each child to design their own unique stocking to fill with goodies. 2.) Cook with Kids Recruit the help of your children in baking delicious holiday treats. Build a gingerbread house together or bake and decorate cookies. Younger children can help with hand mixing, decorating, and of course eating! 3.) Play Outside Get out and enjoy the weather. Try ice skating or visit a local cafĂ©’ or restaurant and grab a cup of hot cocoa. 4.) Learning Can Be Fun Just because school is out for a couple of weeks doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. Keep your kids learning with educational tools and activities during the break. Have your child complete math problems and word searches. 5.) Indoor Creativity Too chilly to go outside? Let them build a fort in the bedroom or the living room. Collect all the sheets and blankets you can find, attach the sheets to each other with clothespins and knots and drape them over chairs and other furniture. Spend the night in the fort as a family telling stories and playing games. 6.) Play Games Host a family game night with your children. Enjoy the company of your family and make lasting memories. Play games like charades, Pictionary and Monopoly.

Progress Reports go Home Monday December 3rd

Progress reports go home at the end fo the day on Monday, December 3rd. Teachers have spent time assessing your child to determine progress toward meeting or exceeding grade level standards for the 2nd nine weeks. They have taken the insight they have working with your child each day and have provided thoughtful comments to round out the picture of how your child performs.

This is also a good time to set goals with your child for the second semester.   If you have any question or concerns, do not hesitate to make an appointment with your child’s teacher. Thank you for your continued support and being a partner in your child’s education.
