FCAT Assessment Begins April 16

Good luck to our third, fourth, and fifth grade students who will be taking the FCAT state assessment starting Monday, April 16.

It is extremely important that your child is present at school each day of testing and that he/she is on time. Testing will begin promptly at 8:45. Students who arrive late will not be allowed to enter their classroom until testing is over.

Here are a few suggestions…

 Make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and breakfast.

 Avoid making dental or doctor appointments on testing days or checking your child out early.

 Try to make the morning of the test a pleasant one. Do not add to your child’s stress.

 Remind your child to listen carefully to the instructions from the teacher, to read the directions and each question carefully.

 Tell your child to attempt to answer all of the questions on the multiple-choice portion of the test and not to leave blanks. There is no penalty for guessing when a student is uncertain of the correct answer.

 Encourage your child to stay focused on the test, even if other students finish early.

Good luck students... you are ready!
